Sobieski Wanda Womens Movement 1

Wanda Sobieski grew up in Kansas in the 1950s and attended Wichita State University in the 1960s. After moving to Knoxville in the 1970s she became active in Women’s organizations, including the National Organization for Women and the La Leche League. Though she faced great discrimination in her attempts to go to graduate school, Sobieski eventually attended and graduated law school at the University of Tennessee and began practicing law in 1982. In this interview, Sobieski discusses her involvement in the Knoxville Women’s Center, her participation in the campaign for the Equal Rights Amendment, her own experiences with gender discrimination, and how the Women’s movement shaped her life.
