Margaret Gregg was born in Chicago and raised in a Catholic family and in Catholic schools. She joined the Glenmary Sisters and was one of the founding members of the Federation of Communities in Service (FOCIS). From the late 1960s through the early 1970s, Gregg lived in Knoxville, Tennessee and ran the communication center for FOCIS. She explains that the sisters never spoke about themselves as feminists, but were ‘unintentional feminists.’
